SOILCRATES Farm Walk at Michael O’Callaghan’s Farm, Co. Limerick

The event opened with a welcome from the TUS team who gave an overview of the project, as well as presentations and soil demonstrations, giving participants the chance to explore methods for testing soil properties and understanding soil function.

Host farmer Michael O’Callaghan shared his experience on the importance of healthy soil biology, and spoke about the value of bringing farmers and researchers together to exchange knowledge and practical experience. During a walk through one of his fields, he explained the different treatments being trialled as part of the project. There was strong engagement from attendees who asked questions and shared their own perspectives.

The event closed in one of the farm sheds, where participants gathered over tea and sandwiches provided by the host, this encouraged further conversation on regenerative agriculture.
