Soil Sampling Campaign Begins

The SOILCRATES-Ireland team has officially begun the sampling campaign for the FSTP granted farms across counties Clare, Limerick and Tipperary.

The sampling programme is capturing a rich set of data to build a deeper picture of soil condition, biological activity, and overall farm health. A wide range of soil indicators are being assessed, including soil temperature, moisture, texture, aggregate stability, chemistry and heavy metals, DNA metabarcoding, dehydrogenase enzyme activity, bulk density, and water holding capacity and the presence of earthworms.

These measurements will help the project team better understand the diversity and quality of soils across the participating farms, and will contribute to the project’s ongoing research and analysis.
